Midweek Service: Thursday 22nd July 2021

Join us in church on Thursday 22nd July at 10:15am for our Midweek Service.

A Service of the Word: Thursday 22/7/21

We are gathered together as the family of God in our Father’s presence to offer praise and thanksgiving, to ask forgiveness of our sins, to hear and receive God’s holy Word, to pray for the needs of the world and to seek God’s grace that through Jesus Christ our Lord and in the power of the Holy Spirit we may give ourselves to God’s service.

Prayer of Penitence and Forgiveness:
God of mercy, we acknowledge that we are sinners.
We turn from the wrong that we have thought and said and done and are mindful of all that we have failed to do.
For the sake of Jesus, who died for us, forgive us all that is past, and help us to live each day in the light of Christ our Lord. Amen.
Short period of silence
May the Lord forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are and direct what we shall be, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God’s people on earth. Lord God, heavenly king, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

O God of power and might, all good things belong to you: sow in our hearts the love of your name, and make us grow in the life of faith; nurture the things that are good, and tend them with your loving care; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen

Reflection on readings: a time of silence

Affirmation of Faith:
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God,
Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one substance with the Father.
Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary and was made human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate: he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son, is worshipped and glorified and has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Merciful Father accept these prayers for the sake of your Son who died and rose for us, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession:
As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the time of trial but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

Conclusion and Act of Dedication:
Almighty God, We thank you for the gift of your holy word:
May it be a lantern to our feet, a light upon our paths, and a strength to our lives. Take us and use us to love and serve all people in the power of the Holy Spirit, and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with us all, evermore. Amen.
