Lambeth Conference

The Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church are attending the conference of the world wide Anglican communion from the 26th July to the 8th August.

Head to our churches provincial hub for all the latest news from Lambeth.

As the Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church make their way to Canterbury for the 2022 meeting of the Lambeth Conference we ask that you hold them in prayer.

The Lambeth Conference is a gathering of bishops from across the Anglican Communion for prayer and reflection, fellowship and dialogue on church and world affairs. Normally taking place every ten years, the previous conference took place in 2008.

Throughout the conference we will publish news and reflections from the College of Bishops. These will be published on social media and at our dedicated news hub, which can be found at the Scottish Episcopal Church website.

In a statement released last week the Bishops responded to news that the programme for the conference includes a number of calls, one of which references a position on marriage not held by the Scottish Episcopal Church; and noted that they will urge a more inclusive approach. They also requested that the Church “join with them in praying for the Conference, for all those who attend, and for the Archbishop of Canterbury as he hosts the Conference.” You can read the full statement here.

Gracious God,
We thank you that in Jesus you reconcile the world and all who are in it to yourself. Touch the hearts of those attending the Lambeth conference, to extend your peace to all and to work for the reconciliation of all creation. Bless them with your grace and love as they connect with one another and with you. May your spirit of peace hover over their conversations and their resting times, and may your gracious will be done in the life of the Anglican Communion and in the whole of your precious world.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace.
Amen.
