As part of Holy Trinity keeping connected, we are trying something new! Whilst we still connect online via our live services we can miss the chats as over a cuppa, in the pew, entering and leaving church. Alongside our Blether with HTD Facebook group we’d love to get to know you (the congregation) making friends and connections old and new through our new Friends of HTD questionnaire.
Our first respondents are Malcolm and Yvonne Gosling. Malcolm is a vestry member and Yvonne is Secretary of the Friendship Group. Below are some things you may know or may find surprising to continue building friendships in our Holy Trinity community, even during lockdown.
Names: Malcolm and Yvonne Gosling.
Where are you from: Malcolm from Portsmouth, Yvonne from Oakley, but born in Aldershot.
What is/was your occupation? Malcolm for many years was a Sales Representative, latterly worked for Inland Revenue. Yvonne worked in Sales Admin and Data Input, latterly Project Admin for Fife Council.
Explain a little about what faith is to you? Faith is the foundation we build our lives on and prayer is the solace in our lives.
Favourite pastime/hobby? Malcolm plays lawn bowls, Yvonne enjoys helping out with the Friendship Group. Yvonne loves her knitting and needlework. Both have loved being involved with the charity Pets As Therapy. Walking the dogs is another favourite.
What’s your connection to HTD? We have been worshipping at Holy Trinity after moving here from Portsmouth 18 years ago. Malcolm is on the Vestry, Yvonne is Secretary of the Friendship Group. We found Holy Trinity after a chance meeting with a friend, Lord Leitch, at a Dunfermline High School reunion, who recommended Scottish Episcopal Church after I told him we were missing the Church of England services.

A piece of advice you would give…. don’t dwell on the past, live for the present, and look forward with a positive attitude to the future

Do you have a favourite sport and/or sports team? Lawn Bowls / Southampton FC

An interesting fact about you that might surprise us … at the age of 58, Malcolm sold our house, the house he was born in, to move to Scotland. Yvonne is a Trekkie !
If you would like to take part in our questionnaire (you can answer some or all the questions – you get to choose) please email KU.gro.hcruhcytinirtylohnull@retsambew and we will send over the instructions.
Thanks for helping us show a church is not a building but a people during this challenging time.
