As part of Holy Trinity keeping connected, we are trying something new! Whilst we still connect online via our live services we can miss the chats as over a cuppa, in the pew, entering and leaving church. Alongside our Blether with HTD Facebook group we’d love to get to know you (the congregation) making friends and connections old and new through our new Friends of HTD questionnaire.

Next up we have Dorissia, known for her times on Vestry, her singing and her incredible cooking. Her curry nights and international feasts not only raise loads of money but taste incredible!

Below are some things you may know or may find surprising to continue building friendships in our Holy Trinity community, even during lockdown.

  1. Name?  Dorissia Forsyth.
  2. Where are you from? The Seychelles
  3. What is/was your occupation? (student, mum, retired (from what), nurse etc can name a few)? I worked for many years in the International department of Tourism for the Seychelles. Before my eldest daughter was born I worked for Dunfermline district tourism as a seasonal assistant but my proudest (and hardest job) is being mum to my two girls.
  4. Explain a little about what faith is to you? Faith to me a sense of belonging to the Community of Christ. It’s togetherness; being different but being a part of the same congregation.

  1. What’s your connection to HTD?  I have been worshipping in HT since November 1984 when I came to the UK. I was married in HT on 6th July 1985. I came across HT one day, when I was walking down town hill road from my Mother in Law’s house. I noticed on the board outside, the times and sung Eucharist and so decided to give it a try!
  2. Tell us about your family? I am the third child of 10, and a non-identical twin. My parents have sadly both passed now, but were married for 54 years and lived well into their 80s. I have over 30 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and I have 2 daughters, Nadine and Sabine.
  3. Do you have any pets? Nope!
  4. Favourite place you have visited?  Switzerland, I studied there for a period of time when I was younger.
  5. Favourite song or band? Duke Ellington!
  1. Favourite film? Casablanca
  2. A piece of advice you would give? Always be yourself and never feel bad about who you are!
  3. Favourite hymn? To God be the Glory
  4. Favourite colour? Purple
  5. Favourite treat to eat?  A piece of dark chocolate.
  6. If you were to go to a deserted island what 3 things would you take? A Bible, a compass, and a bottle of water!
  1. What’s top of your bucket list?  It has always been a dream of mine to go back to Oran in Algeria, to see the beautiful and historic mosques and other buildings.
  2. An interesting fact about you that might surprise us?  I love languages and I can speak fluent French and Italian. I’ve got good knowledge of Swahili, and can speak bit of Japanese and German!
Beautiful Oran, in Algeria
